15 years ago to the day, India played and lost to the West Indies in the 1992 Benson & Hedges World Cup in Wellington.
Azharuddin scored 61 for India while Anderson Cummins picked up 4/33 wrecking the Indian middle order. Keith Arthurton’s 58* saw West Indies home with a lot of overs to spare and only Javagal Srinath could manage to have any impact on the West Indian batting picking up 2/23 (9ov).
Elsewhere, in Canberra, South Africa was playing Zimbabwe and some good bowling by Brian McMillan (3/30) and Peter Kirsten (3/31) helped SA restrict ZIM to just 163. Kepler Wessels’ 70 and Peter Kirsten’s 62* saw SA home easily.
