One has to largely agree to the post by Amit about Indian Idol…
The kids may not only have taken over in front of the camera, but also behind. I refer to the poor production values for a show that is supposed to give us our ‘Idol’ even if it’s for a year!
Unfortunately, the Indian version coincided with the conclusion of the American one and the comparisons in the quality of the show presentation (not contestants) is shocking. It’s not like there is no money for the show, but the production value is simply shoddy.
And why should any of these contestants be considered Idols? First of all, none of them are above average in the singing department. Almost none of them are presentable. Or is there a metamorphosis planned? Why isn’t this an important aspect of the show? If Sanjaya (of American Idol) made it as far as he did, it was purely on account of his presentation. Sure, we don’t need 12 Sanjaya’s (not sure if we need even one, really!), but shouldn’t these contestants be made a little more attractive? Isn’t that also a part of being the ‘idol’?
I do not mean to imply that only good-looking contestants should be progressing, but whoever does progress should be made aware that they are indeed on National TV and be prepped up accordingly. No?
Just so one feels like watching the show. There is no grandeur to the whole thing despite some impressive judges sitting there. It just feels like something’s missing.
And yes, Anu Malik should return!
