Happy New Year

Happy New Year

This will be the last post of the year… yes I haven’t been publishing as much for the last two months or so, but that’s primarily because I have been occupied a lot setting up my new company. And I’m happy to report that we’re getting off the ground rather nicely. We’ve just taken up a new office that we’ll move into around January 15 and have some good clients lined up as well.

Looking back, 2007 was a very important year for me. I quit full time work, did freelance work for about six months before relocating (again) to Pune and setting up the new company. Lots of plans still to be executed as we embark on an exciting journey. Some hints of that went live with Daily Connect and The Punekar. We signed up the IAMAI as one of our clients in addition to recent deals with Indiatimes.com, Khaleej Times, The Times of India and the Economic Times. There are a couple of clients more but more on that in due course. During this time, I wrote for Mint, was (and continue to be) editor of one of India’s finest Formula 1 sites, F1India and signed up with AOL for cricket columns and other cricket content (reminder: deadline approaching!).

These are my top five moments for the year:

  1. The iPhone is launched (yea, baby!)
  2. India wins the World T20 (along with Yuvraj’s six 6′s)
  3. India is knocked out in the first round of the Cricket World Cup (and Gibbs got six 6s)
  4. Benazir Bhutto assassinated
  5. The Formula 1 spying saga

Yes, the list is skewed, but well, those are my interests… not all, of course. There is still the OSO listing missing, Sourav Ganguly’s return to form, Global warming and George Bush… ahhh. Never mind. You’ll find a more ‘balanced‘ list anyways! Without boring you much, I have to say that I will look back at 2007 with great fondness and some pride. And hope that 2008 brings more of that.

So as I sign off for the year, here’s wishing you a happy, exciting and fruitful 2008. Until next year, then…
