 North by Northwest (1959)
4.5/5

Hitchcock's classic. A must-see. Cary Grant owns the movie. And I loved the initial pow-wow between him and his kidnappers. 0.3

 Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)
4.5/5

Quite a movie... it shows the good side of the Japanese and also that the Americans weren't saints in WWII. Plus the acting and cinematography is quite exceptional. Must-see. 0.3

 Gran Torino (2008)
4/5

Very nicely made movie... and Clint Eastwood is still a rockstar. One has to see how he comes around in the movie -- a bit selfish, but mostly, circumstantial. Wonderful. 0.3

 Casino Royale (2006)

My favourite Bond flick yet. Brilliantly shot and Daniel Craig doesn't look like a log of wood for one! And Vesper's was a well played role too. 0.3

 Children of a lesser God
3.5/5

A touching story of a deaf-mute girl her teacher at a special school. James falls in love with Sarah but has to battle his demons and hers before they can learn how to live together and love without letting the lack of language become a barrier. A very well-shot movie and despite being an '80s movie, it's not all garish! 0.3

 Kaminey

Slick. Stylish. Engaging. The story isn't out of this world, but it's worth a watch for sure. Especially Shahid as Charlie... what a fuper performanfe! 0.3

 Carlito's Way (1993)
3.5/5
2009-08-11 20:04
A very hard-hitting movie about a gangster wanting to go straight, but getting sucked back into his 'street life'. Al Pacino does ham a bit (for once), but Sean Penn and John Leguizamo (Benny Blanco) are superb. A must-see. 0.3

 Ronin (1998)
3.5/5

Rather a fast-paced, well made movie. But the ending was a damp squib. Especially when no one's telling what the hell was in the case that they were after for the entire movie! 0.3

Nanhe Jaisalmer: A Dream Come True (2007)
3/5
2009-08-10 20:01
A story about a boy who thinks he has met his 'friend', a movie star and how the movie star guides him to a better life. Shades of "Lage Raho Munnabhai" in this one, but the kid and Bobby Deol are both rather good.
The story does go about in a slightly awkward manner, but it's worth a watch. 0.3

 The Poseidon Adventure (1972)
3/5

Very well made for its time, indeed. And Gene Hackman as Reverend Scott was simply marvellous. Can't believe I hadn't seen this one earlier! 0.3

 Elegy (2008/I)
1.5/5

Soft porn. Not much of a story... Cruz looks good, Kinglsey acts over the top. Result is a snoozefest with characters of of depth and clothes! 0.3
